Abstract

636,092. Automatic moisture control systems. FIELDEN (ELECTRONICS), Ltd., and WITCOMBE, L. Jan. 15, 1948, No. 1244. [Class 38 (iv)] The speed of a drying-machine is controlled in accordance with the moisture content of the material. In accordance with the deviation of the moisture content of the material from a datum value, the bridge j comprising the non-linear resistor 4, is unbalanced and an A.C. voltage is supplied to the control grids of valves V3, V4, the phase sense of which corresponds to the sign of the moisture deviation and the appropriate relay s or t which control the direction of rotation of the motor actuating the speed controller of the main drive, is energized. Valves V6, V7 form a quiescent multi-vibrator which controls the relay u in the circuit of the speed controller motor. A negative voltage developed at the resistors 6, 13, and a positive voltage at condenser C6, which correspond respectively to the moisture content and the speed of the driving motor, are applied alternately to the grid of V7 by the contact u2 to render the periods of operation and inoperation of the speed controller motor dependent respectively on the moisture deviation and the main drive speed.
