Abstract
636,026. Seats &c. TOWLE, R. A., (trading as GOODWOOD. UPHOLSTERY & FURNITURE). March 11, 1948, No. 7450. [Class 52 (ii)] An upholstered chair, settee or the like comprises a seat portion, a back rest and co-operating pegs &c. and open-ended slots for releasably connecting the parts together. As shown in Fig. 1 the seat 1 is provided with rear brackets 8 having slots 9, 10 into which take pegs 14 projecting inwardly from brackets 12 secured to the back rest 2. The chair &c. is completed by side pieces 3 having threaded studs 18 which pass through apertures 15, 16, 17, and are secured by nuts. Any form of upholstery may be provided. In the form shown in Fig. 3 the winged back rest 2 is provided with brackets 22 having slots 23 into which take pegs 21 on the seat brackets 8 and additional pegs 24 are provided to engage the slots 123 on the side pieces 19 which also form arm rests. Studs 18 are provided as in Fig. 1.
