Abstract

635,155. Ammunition projectiles. BREVETS AERO-MECANIQUES SOC. ANON. July 30, 1947, No. 20651. Convention date, April 2. [Class -9 (i)] An armour-piercing incendiary shell, primarily for use against targets having an armour plate protected by a relatively thin plate which is spaced from it, comprises two parts 1, 2, arranged in tandem fashion so that they enter successively into action, the front part 1 housing an explosive charge 3e which completely destroys the forward part after penetration of the thin plate, and at least one part housing an incendiary charge. In the construction shown, both parts 1, 2, contain incendiary charges 3i and 3<SP>0</SP>i respectively, and the front part includes also a relay charge 6 which is fired by a pin 5. The part 2, which is armourpiercing, is formed with a shoulder 2a for the part 1 and may also contain an explosive charge.
