Abstract

635,028. Reciprocating motors. WEYANDT, C.S. Nov. 5, 1947, No. 29532. Convention date, June 14, 1941. [Class 35] Vibratory apparatus comprises an A.C. magnet and a permanent magnet of high retentivity arranged with their pole faces adjacent and with a resilient connection between them. The permanent magnet is connected to a base carrying the electromagnet by resilient means which may be so arranged as to produce substantially rectilinear vibration at a frequency half that of the usual A.C. vibrator. These means preferably have a natural periodicity of two-thirds to eleven-twelfths of that of the alternating current. Fig. 1 shows a permanent magnet 21 secured to a conveyer mounted on wide leaf-springs 4, 5 secured to a base carrying the electromagnet 31. Figs. 4 and 5 show a flanged base-member 41 cut away to accommodate an electromagnet 31 which may be welded to the member 41. The permanent magnet 21 is clamped to a member 61 supported by bolts 65, 66 secured to resilient members 47, 48 fixed to the member 41. The members 47, 48 each comprise two pads 51, 52 of rubber or other resilient material vulcanized or otherwise secured to angle strips 53, 54 and to an interchannel member 49. The base member 41 may be secured to a hopper bin, shoot, mould or table to. be vibrated, or the member 61 may be connected to a screen 73. Fig. 6 shows the elements 21, 31 attached to members, united by a set of leaf springs 76 to vibrate a rubber cup 81.
