Abstract
634,614. Dolls' eyes. WILLIAMS, K. B. Jan. 13, 1948, No. 1003. [Class 132 (iii)] Eyes for dolls and like soft toys comprise an appropriately shaped component simulating an eye made of glass or moulded plastic material adapted to be positioned in the eye socket or aperture, and a member co-operating with the eye component to grip the material of the toy around the socket and to retain the eye component firmly in position. As shown, the eye component 1, Fig. 1, is formed with a substantially flat rear face 2 from which projects an integral threaded shank 3 which passes through the eye aperture to take a retaining nut 4. This nut when screwed home grips the material of the toy marginal to the eye socket as at 5, Fig. 3. As shown in Fig. 3 the screwed shank 6 is of metal and carries a head 7 around which the eye is moulded with a substantially flat rear face. A washer 10 bent to shape is interposed between the material 5 and the nut 9 to aid in gripping the material. The centre portion of the eye or the head of the shank may be coloured to simulate a pupil. A spacer may be provided to connect the eyes, the nuts 4 being provided with lugs, Fig. 1, or as shown in Fig. 3. the shank 6 may be drilled laterally at 13.
