Abstract

642,065. Doll's eyes. BRITISH NATIONAL DOLLS, Ltd., and AINLEY, E. July 26, 1948, No. 19931. [Class 132 (iii)] A doll's eye comprises an eye-ball element 1, a transparent front piece 8, preferably fitting in a frontal recess 2 in the element 1, and an interposed paper disc 6 which is coloured to represent the iris of a human eye. The disc 6 has a central hole for engagement by a spigot 10 which projects from the front piece 8 or element 1 to be received respectively by a hole 4 in the said element or front piece and has its end face coated with a layer of paint 13 or adhesive paper to simulate a pupil for the eye. The front piece may be a press fit in the recess 2 and hole 4, and it preferably has a convex front face to mate with the curved front of the eye-ball. A slot 5 may be provided in the element 1 above the piece 8 to receive the foundation strip 12 of an eye-lash element 11.
