Abstract

666,357. Doll's eyes. SZPRING, T. G., and J.F.J. PRODUCTS, Ltd. Aug. 17, 1950 [Aug. 17, 1949], No. 21435/49. Class 132 (iii). A doll's eye of the "sleeping" type includes a hollow substantially hemispherical eyeball member 10 having a recess or hole 11 which is downwardly asymetrically disposed with respect to the central axis of the member 10, a member 13 representing the iris and pupil of the eye being secured in the hole 11. Both members 10, 13, are of a methyl methacrylate polymer. The eyeball is opaque and white and the iris transparent, the latter having on its inner surface radial ribs 16 coated with, for example, blue paint. A small circular black area represents the pupil. After securing the member 13 in the hole 11 the external surface of the eye is polished, a slit 18 for eyelashes is made, and a flesh-coloured paint 19 applied to the rear-upper part of the member 10. An assembled pair of eyes, Fig. 7 (not shown), includes a pivot wire and a wire frame supporting a weight.
