The pupils d may be mounted on a single flat or concave strip c stepped at c<1> for attachment to the rear of the face card a, or a separate strip may be provided for each pupil. A plate of glass &c. may be interposed in the cavity between the strip c and the card a, and when the strip c is concave, the glass may form a sector of a sphere or be concavo-convex. The strip and pupils may be translucent to pass light from the rear.
