Abstract

509,954. Spectacle lenses. RAPHAEL, O. P. Aug. 22, 1938, No. 16330. [Class 97 (i)] In lenses comprising a relatively small lens proper 1, having a surround 2 to give the whole a conventional size and outline, the surround is formed separately from transparent or translucent plastic or other material and is fitted to the lens proper. In the case of a meniscus lens the surround may be cupshaped or dished outwardly, Fig. 5, to enable the part 1 to be brought close to the eye without the rim coming into contact with the orbit of the eye.
