Abstract
In a method of rectifying a neutral molten salt bath consisting of chlorides such as those of barium, sodium, and/or potassium a member of the group consisting of chlorine, bromine, fluorine, alkyl halides thereof and hydrochloric acid is injected in the gaseous state into the bath while in an open pot. The preferred compounds are methyl chloride dichlorodifluoromethane or dichloromonofluoromethane. Bromine or carbon tetrachloride being liquids must be vaporized before use. The gases may be added continuously or intermittently. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the use of trichloroethylene. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
