Abstract

632,868. Resilient mountings. FAWICK, T. L. July 10, 1947, No. 18266. Convention date, Jan. 24, 1945. [Class 108 (iii)] In a resilient bushing comprising inner and outer rigid members 10 and 11 respectively, defining an annular space between them and a rubber sleeve 12 mounted in the said space in contact with the members 10 and 11 and terminating short of each end thereof, a ring of resilient, oil-resisting material 13 is mounted under compression in the space beyond each end of the rubber sleeve. The rings are preferably located in grooves formed in the inner and outer members, as shown, and preferably are of Neoprene or other oil-resistant synthetic rubber. The rings may be coated with an adhesive which acts as a lubricant as they are forced into position between the members 10 and 11 and which after being permitted to set provides a bond between them. Raw-hide rings may be used for mountings wherein relative circumferential movement of the members 10 and 11 is not great. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, grooves for the rings are dispensed with, the inner and outer members being wholly cylindrical. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
