632,253. Work feeds for woodworking machines; sawing. BRUNDLER, A. Aug. 7, 1947, No. 21497. Convention date, Sept. 22, 1944. [Classes 145 (i) and 145 (ii)] In a feed apparatus 17 for woodworking machines, such as circular saws, which is removably arranged on the arm of a bracket 7 mounted on a post 1, the bracket is guided on the post by rollers 5 in slots 4 and the post is mountable on the machine either horizontally or vertically by means of the rectangularly flanged post 2, whilst several bosses 24 are provided for mounting spaced feed rollers 23 on the feed apparatus. The rollers may have annular grooves 26 in their peripheries to accommodate the projecting edge of the cutting tool, e.g. a saw 27, whilst the post 1 is preferably rotatably supported in the foot 2. The feed apparatus, driven by an electric motor 20, has parallel rods 18 to which is attached the part 8 by means of set-screws 9; the part 8 has a conical plug engaging a conical hole in the end portion 7<SP>1</SP> of the arm 7 to ensure adjustable rotation about an axis parallel to the post 1. A rod 15 enters the part 7<SP>1</SP> and is clamped at its upper end by a clamp 13 to the adjustable leaf spring 11 carried on the bar 10, pressure of the spring 11 being controlled by means 12 and 16, whilst a coiled spring 14 takes the weight of the feed apparatus. Differing speeds of feed are attained by means of gears in the casing 21 controlled by a gear lever 22.
