631,537. Respiratory appliances. BERTHOLEY, L. M. Aug. 28, 1947, No. 23900. Convention date, Nov. 4, 1940. [Class 81(ii)] A mask for use with oxygen or other gas, comprises a hood 5, preferably of rigid transparent material, with depending sides enclosing the face, and a lower wall 9 having a re-entrant form and extending down only to a position adjacent the patient's chin, so that gas entering through a tube 6 generates a swirling effect adjacent the nose and mouth. Ventilation holes 12 may be provided adjacent the upper end wall 2.
