Abstract
889,130. Respiratory appliances. AMALGAMATED DENTAL CO. Ltd. Nov. 29, 1960 [Nov. 30, 1959], No. 40601/59. Class 81 (2). An airway is associated with a face mask in order to ensure a free passage for gas administered to an unconscious patient. Gas enters the mask 1 through a tubular fitting 4 which has diametrically placed pairs of holes 6 to receive the ends of spring wire clips 7. These bear against projections 13 on the airway 12 to hold it securely in the desired position. The mask is first located under the chin of the patient and then tipped upward over the face so that the airway passes down the throat and holds the tongue down while ensuring a clear passage to the larynx.
