Abstract
631,430. Windows. BECKETT, LAYCOCK, & WATKINSON, Ltd., and PERNETTA, C. Aug. 11, 1947, No. 22310. [Class 20(iii)] In a vertically sliding window with a spring-operated lazytongs balance mechanism, the spring-box is horizontally pivoted to the lower edge of the sliding panel and the pivot-plate at the other end of the lazytongs is horizontally pivoted to the fixed structure of the pocket into which the panel slides. As shown lugs 14 on the spring-box 3 are connected by pivot-pins 13 to lugs 12 on the window 1, and the bottom plate 10 is similarly secured to the fixed structure 11, whereby the lazytongs may tilt, e.g. when mounted in a curved vehicle wall. According to the Provisional Specification the connection between the spring-box and panel is removable, and the upper links 5 each have a short arm projecting beyond the pivot 4 and coupled by a tie rod to an abutment for the compression spring.
