630,817. Securing washers against loss. WILLIAMS, H. M. Aug. 20, 1947, No. 23040. [Class 89 (i)] [Also in Group XXII] Nuts and bolt heads are so grooved that washers provided with upstanding lugs may be rendered captive by axial pressure only. The nut or bolt head has a turned groove 1 of curved or conical form and the washer is punched with a number of upstanding lugs as shown in Fig. 2. Axial pressure assembles the parts by deforming the lugs to permit relative rotation but prevent separation. Specification 658,009, [Group XXII], is referred to.
