Abstract

630,551. Hand trucks. WARRY, R. F. July 22, 1946, No. 18690/45. [Class 108 (i)] A hand truck for transporting building bricks and the like is provided with a toe-plate adapted to be slid into guides in the base of a support or container to couple the container to the truck. The sides 6 of the truck frame are composed of angle frames and a pair of wheels 10 together with a pair of rollers 14<SP>1</SP> are provided near the base so that the truck can rest substantially vertically at an inclination of not more than 20 degrees from the vertical. The truck, Fig. 2, comprises side angles 6 cross-connected by a member 7, handle-bars 8 and toe-plate 14, the wheels 10 being mounted on an axle 11 carried in brackets 12 depending from the members 6. The toe-plate 14 is adapted to be inserted in channels 2, Fig. 1, in the base 1 of a support for a load of bricks, angles 3 upstanding from the base and cross-connected by a member 4 at the upper end forming with the angles 6 of the truck, corner pieces for the load of bricks. The rollers 14<SP>1</SP> enable the toe-plate to engage with the guides and also enable the truck to be turned in a confined space. A closed container, Fig. 4, may be used instead of the support 1, and comprises an open box 17 with channel guides 2, a sliding door 18 and inclined false bottom 19. A similar container for transporting mixed concrete comprises a closed container with inclined mouth which lies approximately horizontal when carried by the truck. A shackle, Fig. 8, (not shown), may be used for lifting the loaded truck and comprises a bar hooked at one end to engage the portion 4 of the support 1 and a depression at the other end of the bar to engage under the handle-bar 8.
