Abstract
630,110. Velocity-modulated tubes. SPERRY GYROSCOPE CO., Inc. June 28, 1945, No. 28024/47. Convention date, June 28, 1944. Divided out of 630,069. [Class 39 (i)l In a multi-resonator velocity-modulation tube all the resonator entrance walls are connected together and all the exit walls together, and the adjacent walls of adjacent resonators are interconnected by extensible drift-tubes so that gang-tuning is effected by moving bodily all the exit walls with respect to the entrance walls. The entrance walls to resonators 116<1>, 128<1>, 158 are secured to one set of screws 176, and the exit walls to another set of screws 179. The two sets of screws 176, 179 are secured to end discs 175, 173 whose distance apart may be varied by means of a thermally compensated composite screw 188. The walls of resonators 128, 158<1> are adjustably secured to the screws 176, 179 so that the tuning of the individual resonators, or the distances between the entrance walls or between the exit walls of the resonators may be varied. The gang tuning structure may be applied to resonators designed for harmonic frequency relations. Specifications 523,712 is referred to.
