[Class 60] A twist-drill grinder includes a drivemotor and grinding-wheel oscillating as a unit on a pivot disposed parallel to the motor-and-wheel axis, the motor-shaft being operatively engaged for oscillation by means actuated by a reduction gear which causes the motor-shaft to oscillate about an axis parallel to but not coincident with its own axis. An electric motor 3 having a cupped grinding wheel 4 mounted directly on a motor-shaft 7 is carried on a cradle 13, pivoted on a pivot 14 secured in brackets 15 on a base plate 1, and urged thereagainst by a spring 17. The motorshaft 7 is coupled, through a reduction gear 8, to a shaft-end 7a which is keyed to an eccentric disc 9 mounted in one end of a rod 10 pivoted at its other end on a pin 12 secured to the wall of the grinder case, so that rotation of the shaft serves to oscillate the wheel and motor about the pivot 14 thus to ensure that the working face 4a of the grinding-wheel is uniformly worn. A sealing ring 22 is axially movable in the grinder case 2 and is spring- pressed against the motor. A cooling-air intake 28 is provided at the reduction-gear end of the motor and an outlet 29 at the grinding-wheel end so that outflowing air blows any abraded material to the outside.
