Abstract
629,524. Fusible cut-outs. WILCOX, E., and WILCOX & CO., Ltd., E. Feb. 2, 1944, No. 1917. [Class 38 (i)] A bridge carrier 13 for an electric fuse-holder of the slide-lock type is formed with sleeves 21, 21a, into the ends of which screwed stems 24, 24a are slidably inserted, these latter engaging tapped holes in the enlarged looped ends 22, 22a of the bifurcated contacts 23, 23a so that the screwing up of the stem 24 by means of an operating piece 26 clamps the cartridge fuse by its caps 30, 30a between the coned ends of the stems and also clamps the contacts against the sleeves. The limbs 23, 23a of the contacts are received in notches 29, 29a, and projections 27, 27a on the contacts are received in recesses 28, 28a, in the sleeves so as to prevent angular movement of the contacts. The stem 24a may be provided with a reel 33 for spare fuse wire or it may be provided with an operating piece similar to 26. Springs or spring washers may be arranged on the stems 24, 24a between the contacts and the sleeves to provide a snap action for inserting or removing the fuse. Alternatively, the springs may be arranged in the bores of the sleeves between collars on the stems and plugs screwed into the sleeves so that the screwing up of the plugs forces the coned ends of the stems on to the fuse caps.
