Abstract

637,649. Fusible cut-outs. WITHERS, D. F. Nov. 28, 1946, No. 35317. [Class 38 (i)] In a fuse box 1, the fuse bridges 12 which are mounted in fuse holders 10 in the box are provided with plungers 21 which are mounted in guiding sleeves 18 and held inoperative by the fuse elements 17, each of which passes from one terminal 16 on a fuse contact 14 through a hole 23 in a block 22 on the plunger rod 19 to another terminal 16 on the other fuse contact 15 so that when an element blows the associated plunger closes contacts 27, 28 mounted above the holders 10 and in the circuit of a low-voltage lamp 26. The plungers are spring-loaded in recesses in the bridges to one side thereof and the fuse contacts 14, 15 are mounted in alignment on the other side. In a modification, Fig. 5, the lamp contacts 31, 32 are mounted in the bridge which has plug contacts 34, 35 for the lamp circuit. The plunger, then, is enclosed in a compartment 30 and has on its rod 19 a collar 33 which engages the lamp contacts.
