Abstract

629,194. Winding thread. MASCHINENFABRIK SCHWEITER AKT.-GES. June 17, 1947, No. 15930. Convention date, July 1, 1946. [Class 120 (ii)] Apparatus for clamping the thread at the commencement of the winding operation on winding frames with automatic change of bobbins comprises a thread holder 6, consisting of a bar 8 and a cross bar 7 which is capable of sliding axially in the driving spindle 2. The spindle 2 has a spring-pressed axially moving ejector 3 and is itself able to slide in the bearing 1 of the winding frame. The cross bar 7 engages in a groove 14 in the end of the spindle 2 such that its ends extend slightly outside the periphery of the spindle. When a bobbin 10 is inserted the cross bar 7 is held in the groove 14 by means of the ejector 3 acting on the lug 9 ; the thread is guided so as to trail over the edge of the spindle such that on rotation the cross bar 7 " catches " the thread and holds it in the groove. When the bobbin 10 is completely wound the spindle 2 is pulled back thus ejecting the bobbin 10 and at the same time the rear end of the bar 8 strikes against the face 17, so that the bar slides forward in the spindle and releases the thread. The T-shaped thread holder shown is suitable if both directions of rotation are utilised but if only one direction of rotation is required to be used the thread holder may be L-shaped.
