Abstract

629,081. Lathe details. BROCKHOUSE & CO., Ltd., J., and TREVENA, A. Oct. 30, 1947, No. 28942. Addition to 601,592. [Class 83 (iii)] The tool-holder of the parent Specification is modified in that the body is provided with means for mounting it upon a tool support of an automatic lathe and is provided at one end, at a position remote from the work, with means for inparting rotation to the tool driving element effecting the reciprocatory movement of the tool. The tool 32, Fig. 3, is carried adjacent the work-piece 13 in a slide 30 which is reciprocated under the control of a follower 31, Fig. 4, engaging a rotating cam-ring 25 and a compression spring 33. The cam-ring is detachably carried in a holder 23 rotatable in a ball-race 22 and driven by clutch teeth 18, 19 from a driving shaft 15. The base 26 of the tool-holder is dovetailed or provided with clamping means for attachment to the tool-holder of an automatic lathe. In a further modified form, the clutch teeth are omitted, and the cam-ring is carried directly on the rotatably mounted driving shaft. The latter is driven by the automatic lathe.
