Abstract

628,984. Bearings. KELLETT, W. Sept. 24, 1946, No. 28546. [Class 12 (i)] A self-lubricating bearing comprises a perforated bush freely mounted on a shaft, the adjacent surfaces of the bush and a member supported by the shaft being such as to provide enclosed lubricant containing pockets which communicate with the perforations, members being loosely anchored to said perforations to agitate the lubricant and facilitate its passage through the perforations to the shaft. As shown, a perforated bush c is freely interposed between a pin b and the eye a of a leaf-spring, and has annular peripheral recesses forming enclosed lubricant-containing pockets e. Longitudinal grooves provide communication between the pockets and loose wires k anchored in the perforations serve to agitate the lubricant, thus facilitating its passage to the bearing- surface of the pin b. The lubricant, which is semi-solid or non-solidifying, may be inserted during assembly or a filler hole f closed by a grub-screw h may be provided in the spring eye a. A liner d may be interposed between the bush and the leaf-spring eye, a hole g being provided therein to receive the grub-screw h, thus securing it against rotation.
