Abstract

895,599. Pivots. LEMFORDER METALLWARENGESELLSCHAFT. Oct. 17, 1958 [Nov. 27, 1957], No. 33261/58. Class 65(2). A swivel joint comprises a pin 6 mounted for sliding rotational movement in a bushing 3 constructed from a resilient polyurethane material and fixed in the bore of a housing eye 2 at the end of a rod 1, an annular groove being formed in the internal surface of the bushing to provide a chamber between the pin and the bushing which contains as lubricant a sleeve 19 of resilient plastic material. Preferably the sleeve is made of tetrafluoropolyethylene. The sleeve may have one or more apertures corresponding with one or more additional grooves 10 in the bushing which serve to contain grease or oil. One or both ends of the bushing may be sealed by a cover or collar 12, 20 which may also be made of resilient polyurethane material and may contain grease or oil.
