Abstract

628,431. Press-button retractive switches. PETTER, K. M. Sept. 30, 1947, No. 26415. [Class 38(v)] A retractive snap-action switch has a time-delay imparted by a bellows or the like having an adjustable air-leak 6, the extent of the delay being controlled by an adjustable screw 30. On depression of push-button 21, the bellows 4 is compressed and a bell-crank 18 pivoted at 17 is rotated clockwise, thereby carrying over deadcentre a spring 27a connected between its lower end and a U-shaped operating member 26, pivoted at 27. The member 26 moves clockwise against screw 30 and allows a spring-urged contact to bridge contacts 23. A spring 22 connected to lever 18 tends to extend the bellows at a rate dependent on the setting of the air leak 6, thereby swing- ing the member 26 counter-clockwise, until the dead-centre position is reached, when it snaps over to open contacts 23, 24, the time taken for member 26 to reach the dead-centre position depending on the setting of screw 30.
