Abstract

627,683. Feeding rods, &c. into conduits. BROWN, R. W. Sept. 23, 1947, No. 25797. [Class 99(ii)] In a device for feeding rods, &c. into ducts &c. 5, the rod 1 is fed through guide tubes 4 to the duct by a driving head 3. One form of driving head consists of a track 26 mounted in an hydraulically operated slidable member 15 in a head 3, engaging a track 26a in a fixed port of the head 3 and frictionally feeding the rod 1 into the duct 5. Pressure on the rod 1 is maintained by spring rollers 29, 29a. The final guide tube is in the shape of a 90 degree bend and is fixed to a device with adjustable stays 6 and legs 7 designed to provide reaction to the horizontal end load on the rod 1.
