626,234. Fire-extinguishing. SPECIALTIES DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Jan. 16, 1947, No. 1520. Convention date, May 7, 1946. [Class 47 (ii)] Fires in open tanks &c. are extinguished by carbon dioxide gas and snow issuing in fanshaped sheets from discharge heads 11 secured at the top or other part of the tank. Each head comprises a body 20, 35 in which the mixture of gas and snow is produced by the expansion of jets of liquid issuing from radial orifices 30, and a deflector plate 41 which, with the lip 36 of the body, forms a narrow, fanshaped discharge orifice. An axial jet from an orifice 29 plays on the deflector plate to prevent accumulation of. snow thereon. A drainage aperture 38 is provided. Specification 621,922 is referred to.
