[Class 12 (iii)] [Also in Group XXVIII] In a multiple delivery lubricator, operation of a piston 4 in a cylinder 1 causes simultaneous movement of a number of plungers 8 to expel lubricant from a reservoir 3 into radial ports 23 each communicating with a separate component requiring periodical lubrication. Application of a vacuum to the left-hand side of piston 4 causes movement thereof to the left and corresponding movement of the plungers 8 through the engagement of plunger heads 7 with a plate 6 secured to the end of the pistonrod 5. The movement of the plungers cuts off the supply of lubricant from ports 18 to the passages 19, and the ends of the rods 8 entering passages 19 force the lubricant past non-return valves 21 to the ports 23. On release of the vacuum, piston 4 and plungers 8 return to their original positions under the action of springs 11 acting on plunger heads 7. The stroke of the piston 4 may be adjusted by member 10 mounted in the cover 9. In a modification, the piston is mounted adjacent the plate 6 and is operated by air pressure. In an automobile, the cylinder 1 may be operatively connected with the braking system. In other applications a mechanically-driven valve is interposed between the source of pressure or vacuum and lubricator cylinder 1.
