Abstract
624,975. Induction heating. BIRLEC, Ltd., HANCOCK, P. F., LEAN, R. J., and MAY, E. July 19, 1947, No. 19370. [Class 39(iii)] A work coil 1 having orifices 5 for quenching fluid is characterised in that the orifices are arranged so as to direct a series of jets tangentially to a hypothetical circle of smaller diameter than the cross section of the work-piece 7. The work-piece may be rotated by the action of the jets, and the jets may be inclined with respect to the direction of axial movement of the workpiece as shown in Fig. 3.
