[Class 25] [Also in Group XXVI] The top portion 1 of a ventilating-shaft is spaced from the main portion 2 by spacers 4, air being expelled radially outwardly through the space by the blades 11 of a centrifugal blower. The portion 1 acts as a byepass, under the control of a damper 35, whereby the extraction of air from the portion 2 may be varied. The control cord 38 of the damper passes through the hollow shaft 18 of the blower and can be secured at different settings by engaging one of a number of knots 40 with a notch on a bracket 42.
