Abstract

624,729. Two-part couplings. PIERCE FOUNDATION, J. B. Dec. 11, 1946, No. 36598. Convention date, March 14. [Class 38 (i)] A seriatim wiring system comprising units 13 such as those described in Specification 559,266 carrying conductors 14, 15, 16 and socket outlet units 11, 12 such as those described in Specification 570,658 fed by a power feed unit 10 such as that described in Specification 569,194, has an external earthing conductor in the form of a sectional inverted metal channel 25 preferably formed so as to provide a base for the system. The units 11, 12 have earth sockets 28, 29 connected by metal straps 28a, 29a to the conductor 25, ultimate earthing of the latter being accomplished by means of a terminal 35 secured thereto at one end, the other end projecting through an aperture 36 in the base of the power feed unit and having an earthing conductor 34 in the power feed cable 20 attached thereto. Where a metal-sheathed, power-feed cable is used (Fig. 6, not shown), connection to the conductor 25 is made through a bracket which holds the cable in position at its point of entry into the power-feed unit.
