Abstract

624,713. Balancing. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. Sept. 27, 1946, No. 28919. Convention date, March 22, 1943. [Class 78 (ii)] Apparatus such as an X-ray unit 8 is supported for vertical movement on a column 3 and is counterbalanced by a torsion spring 4 inside the column acting on a shaft 2 to which. is secured a conical grooved drum 1 from which passes a cable 10 to support the apparatus. The cable 10 passes from the drum 12 over a pulley 11 which may also be grooved and conical. The unit 8 is guided on the column 3 by rollers 9. A rotatably adjustable anchor 7 for the spring 4 serves to adjust the mean torsion.
