Abstract

623,519. Rod or tube couplings. MODERN ARMS CO., Ltd., and GORHAM, P. H. May 9, 1947, No. 12667. [Class 99(i)] In means for connecting rods, tubes or the like 1, 13, the rod ends are fitted with coacting sleeves 2, 12 respectively, the sleeve 2 having bifurcations 3, 4, cross pin 5 and axial spring pin 10, and the sleeve 12 having a flatted portion 14 with a slot 15 which fits over the pin 5, and an end recess 16 which coacts with the pin 10 to lock the parts together. The spring pin is connected, Fig. 3, to a slidable sleeve 6 which may be moved back to disengage the coupling. The rods are angularly disposed while the slot 15 is fitted over the pin 5 and the end of the part 14 is chamfered at 17 to permit movement into axial alignment and engagement of the locking pin 10.
