Abstract

622,943. Chimney sweeping devices. NEWELL, G. A. Oct. 4, 1946, No. 29692. Addition to 577,737. [Class 126] In the chimneysweeping apparatus described in the parent Specification a window A<SP>1</SP> made of non-splintering transparent material may be fitted to part A of the hood placed over the fireplace opening. A fixed flexible hose B, controllable by a valve E and smaller than the main hose to which it is connected, may be provided for the final cleaning up of the soot. The suction mouthpiece D of the main hose may extend across the whole width of the hood A, the upper part of the mouthpiece D being provided with elongated slots for the passage of soot. An inclined bell-mouthed guide C fitted with felt-washers is provided in the front of the hood A for the insertion of the rods of a cleaning brush.
