Abstract
622,849. Vices. BRIDSON, Ltd., S. H., and VALLANCE, D. B. Feb. 3, 1947. No. 3217. [Class 61(ii)] [Also in Group XXII] A V-block device comprises a main V- block 10, a rigid arm 12 which is rigidly fastened to the V-block and extends parallel to the base line thereof, and an auxiliary support 11 adjustable along the arm 12 for supporting the end part of a rod or like member laid on the V-block. The main V-block is secured to the arm 12 by bolts, and the auxiliary support is clamped to the arm in its adjusted position by a bolt 20. The block 10 is fitted with a work-clamping member 25 adjustable by means of a screw 30 and fitted with a hardened steel drill bush 37 held in place by a screw 38. Drill bushes 48 of different sizes are fitted tightly in holes in the main and auxiliary V-blocks to make the device self contained. To locate the work axially a swivelling end stop 44, which may be calibrated, is provided, having a rod 41 passing through the block 10 and clamped by a screw 43. The V-grooves are cut away segmentally as indicated at 23, 24 to improve the adaptability of the device.
