[Class 60] [Also in Group XXII] An adapter, for a work-holder device capable of giving angular settings in any desired plane and comprising an adapter fitting which is mountable on a base for accurate angular adjustment around the vertical axis, this fitting embodying a table part mounted for angular adjustment about a horizontal axis, geared means for performing this adjustment without detriment to the accuracy of the setting, the said table part being adapted for the mounting thereon of a circularly adjustable work-holder or of a chuck device, comprises a circular base-plate e adapted for being mounted for circular adjustment, a pair of parallel webs or side plates g, g<SP>1</SP> rising from said base-plate e, a disc h and large gear-wheel coupled together and revolubly mounted between the webs or side plates g, g<SP>1</SP>, a small gear-wheel q similarly mounted and in mesh with the large gearwheel j, means for driving the small gear-wheel, a circular table t mounted upon an extension of the disc and adapted for supporting the work-holder or chuck device f, and clamping means r adapted for engaging with a peripheral portion of the disc h. The work-holder is capable of being removed from the adapter and mounted for angular adjustment on the base in place of the adapter fitting.
