Abstract

400,332. Vices ; clamps. STEVENS, H. A., 155, Belsize Road, Kilburn, London. June 10, 1932, No. 16456. [Class 61 (ii).] A vice or clamping device comprises a V- shaped horizontally disposed plate 12 on the forward limb 11 of which is mounted an engineer's vice 10 having its movable body part 23 fitted with a clamping jaw 24 coacting with a clamping jaw 30 secured to brackets 28 fixed to the other limb 13 of the plate 12 ; the jaw 24 is carried by a shank 26 held in the vice body part 23 by a set screw 27. The plate 12 is supported by battens 15, 16 and is secured to the bench 20 by means of a bolt 14 and wing nut 19 with interposed spacing collar 17 .so that circular adjustment about the bolt is permitted. Fig. 2 shows the vice body part 23 fitted with a cornered block 34 coacting with angled edges 35, 36 on the fixed brackets 28, 29 for clamping a mitre joint. The device is adapted for bending, as shown in Fig. 3, by the jaw 34 and plate 39 supported by the means of arcuate formers 37, 38 located against brackets 29.
