[Class 100 (ii)] A multi-colour offset printing-machine, which can print on cylindrical articles, is constructed with an oscillating carrier c having a plate d in which a galley e is mounted, fitted with two differently-coloured blocks, by means of which offset impressions are printed on a surface i mounted on a turntable H carried by a sliding plate g moving over rails a<SP>1</SP> mounted on a base a. As the carrier c is moved from open position to the closed position shown in Fig. 1, the plate g is moved by linkwork, or other mechanism, from its right-hand position to the position shown, and during this movement the turntable h is rotated through a quarter of a revolution and is held in this position by pawls p mounted in spring-controlled arms q engaging a ratchet-wheel o on the turntable. This movement of the turntable is effected by a spring- raised pin m<SP>2</SP> acting on an arm of a cam l shaped like a Maltese cross, the pawls p being actuated to free the turntable shaft by a spring-pressed cam member r<SP>2</SP>. On the return movement of the carriage g due to opening of the type carrier c, the turntable is again rotated a quarter of a revolution in the same direction by the action of a pin m<SP>1</SP> on the cam l, the locking pawls being released by a cam r<SP>1</SP>. The pins m<SP>1</SP>, m2 are formed with sloping surfaces which permit them to be depressed when not required to actuate the cam l. The printing blocks rotate through half a revolution between the interval of printing a first impression and a second impression, so that they are arranged in reverse in the galley to ensure register of the second impression on the offset surface, from which surface one two-colour impression can be transferred to a cylindrical article at each complete oscillation of the carrier c. The machine may be arranged to print four colours instead of two.
