Abstract

622,284. Cable terminals. AIRCRAFTMARINE PRODUCTS, Inc. June 22, 1946, No. 18807. Convention date, July 6, 1945. [Class 38 (i)] [Also in Group XXII] A terminal is formed from a blank 20 which is swaged at 22 and is worked to form a connector 24 and ferrule, Figs. 13, 16, comprising two coaxial barrels 26d, 28d of different internal diameters, the barrel 26d receiving stripped conductors W of a cable C and the other barrel 28d passing over the cable insulation. The edge 29 of the swaged portion is curved along an arc of three to five times the radius of the barrel 28d, which is worked to two-thirds the thickness of the adjacent portion 26. An offset 30d is provided to render the ferrule barrels 26d, 28d, coaxial and so guide the conductors W onto the connector where it is crimped to the conductors at 32 and to the insulation at 34. In a modification (Fig. 17, not shown), barbs are formed in the larger barrel to ensure a stronger grip on the insulation. Specifications 569,366, 621,949 and 622,198 are referred to.
