Abstract

622,198. Cable and wire terminals. AIRCRAFT-MARINE PRODUCTS, Inc. April 19, 1945, No. 9775. Convention date, April 10, 1944..[Class 38 (i)] A connector formed from a blank stamped out from sheet metal, e.g. electrolytic coppers comprises a terminal eye-portion 2 and a rolled - up ferrule portion 6 for crimping on to the bared end of a conductor 10. The ferrule has grooves formed on its inner surface and the seam thereof is brazed before crimping, as and for the purpose set forth in Specification 621,949. Insulation clamping jaws 12, 14 are provided on the end of the ferrule opposite the portion 2, the junction of the said jaws being in line with the base of the ferrule prior to the crimping of the latter. Between the jaws and the ferrule, a neck portion 22 is formed of sufficient length to ensure that the jaws are bodily offset from their initial position by the crimping operation so that the insulated portion of the conductor and the portion thereof lying within the ferrule may be aligned coaxially. Crimping may be performed by a tool such, for example, as that described in Specifications 585,507 and 585,533, [Group XXIII].
