Abstract
621,965. Greenhouses; garages; extensible buildings. CONCRETE PATENTS, Ltd., DANHOF, K. R., FUENTE, R. H., and FUENTE, N. C. July 10, 1946, No. 20661. [Class 20(i)] The framework of a building, e.g. a greenhouse or garage, is made of interengaging preferably concrete elements joined by mortice and tenon joints (Fig. 31) so constructed that part of an element 1 which constitutes the tenon is only partly engaged by the morticed portion 3b of an associated element 2 whereby a further similarly morticed element can be placed in engagement with the tenon to extend the building lengthwise and wherein the frame elements forming the joint are held in position by connecting elements. These elements may comprise hooks 14, 15 in the ends of the gutters 2, 2, fitting over a pin 13 on the post 1. Grooves 16 are filled with caulking material to complete the joint. Ridge members 4 are extensible in a similar fashion, the tenon, in this case, being formed on a roof truss 3a (Fig. 29). Supporting posts 1 have recesses in which the ends of roof members 22 and sills 6 are housed, the members 6 and 22 also having recesses to house the ends of sashes 5. The ends of roof trusses 3a and roof sashes 3 are housed in recesses 12 in the gutter members 2 (Fig. 10), whilst the apices of sash members 3 are housed in slots 7a in the ridge members 4 (Fig. 29). Recesses on the outer, unengaged sides of the uprights 1 and gutters 2 may be provided for sideways extension of the building.
