598,121. Prefabricated concrete greenhouses &c. SCANDOLO, B. Aug. 29, 1945, No. 22230. [Class 20(i)] A framework for a building e.g. a greenhouse, is formed from precast concrete elements comprising end sections A embodying integral corner-posts, a roof ridge 3 supported thereby, longitudinal and transverse sills 9, 10, 11, 12 and glazing bars 27, the various parts interlocking with each other. The end sections are in two parts each having a vertical part 1 and an inclined upper part 2 and are shaped where they abut to engage and support the roof ridge 3, Fig. 6, the joint being secured by bolts. Spigots 27b on the upper ends of the glazing bars 27 engage in recesses 3b in the ridge, Fig. 7, and the lower ends of the bars similarly engage the sills 9. The upper sills are provided with transverse tongues 9b, 10b engaging in slots 1b, 1d in the corner posts and the lower sills with spigots 11a, 12a engaging in recesses 1e, 1f in the corner posts. The tongues 9b and 10b and slots 1b, 1d may be stepped in their length to prevent lateral movement of the sills. Intermediate uprights 13 may be provided interlocking with the sills by spigot and socket joints and the members 1, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 grooved at 15 to accommodate wall panels. The house may be extended indefinitely by using intermediate supports B similar to the end sections A and one end of the house provided with a door frame 4 built up from interlocking precast sections 5, 6. Wires are cast in the upper sills 9 to support glazing panels. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 554,175, 557,231 and 562,399.
