[Class 65 (ii)] [Also in Group X] In sliding-folding doors comprising hinged pairs of narrow panels hinged at their outer ends to columns mounted top and bottom in guide tracks running along the opening, the panels are hung on the columns by pintle hinges of which the sockets 13 are supported on the columns by means of flexible resilient bushes 20 and have a taper bore with a round bottom of rather greater radius than that of the pintle end the pintles having a generous clearance throughout their length. The pintles 12 have a stem 14 which is a forcefit in a bore 15a in a bracket 15 secured to the door panel 11 and have a shoulder 16 between which and the lower face 17 of the bracket is interposed an aluminium cup 29 retaining a felt washer 30. The socket 13 has a similar stem 18 and shoulder 19, a rubber &c. bush 20 being bonded to the stem, its flange 24 forming a seating for the shoulder 19. The bush is also bonded into a steel sleeve 22 fitting into mating half-round grooves formed respectively in a bracket 26 secured to the column 10 and a cap 27 bolted to the bracket. The lowest hinge of a set connecting a panel to a column is preferably an ordinary non-tapered pintle hinge, the end load being transmitted by a ball or roller thrust bearing between the upper face of the socket and a shoulder formed on the pintle or pintle bracket.
