Abstract

789,750. Doors. BECKETT LAYCOCK & WATKINSON, Ltd. June 11, 1956 [June 9, 1955], No. 16646/55. Class 20(3) A lower guide for a sliding door 11 of the kind which is suspended from upper runner gear, not shown, carrying the full weight of the door. comprises a number of approximately U-shaped frames 17 each of which has two side pockets to accommodate a pair of rollers 16 which are mounted about vertical axes and embrace a vertical flange 15 of an L-shaped guide member 14 attached to the floor across the door opening. Each roller 16, preferably made of hardened steel, has a bronze bush 25 which is rotatable about a steel axle pin 21 secured by a rivet 26 between the horizontal limbs 19, 20 of the respective pocket. The limb 19 of one pocket and the limb 20 of the opposite pocket are extended laterally to provide projections 22, 23 with holes 24 for securing to the appropriate portion of the door, the countersunk end of each pin 26 being arranged on whichever limb 19; or 20 is provided with the projections 22, or 23.
