871,910. Horizontally folding doors. K-M STEEL PRODUCTS PROPRIETARY Ltd. Aug. 19, 1959 [Aug. 21, 1958], No. 28340/59. Class 20(3) [Also in Group XXV] A garage door comprises at least three panels 41-45 arranged on above the other and adapted to be folded together with the top panel lying above the second panel and so on, the panels being interconnected by links 46-50 which hold them in parallel relationship in all positions and being supported in the raised position by counterbalancing weights 33 (see Group XXV) located at one side only of the door opening. The panels and links from a lazy-tongs mechanism, the pivots 51 carrying rollers which move in vertical guide channels at each side of the opening. Each side of the upper panel 41 carries a roller 66 freely pivoted on a bracket 64 secured to the panel, these rollers being constrained to move in horizontal channel members 17 so as to control the folding movement of the door. Each panel comprises an angle member 60 at each side, the opposite ends of which are curved at 63 to provide a neat appearance, and an outer panel member 61 formed as a box 62 along the opposite edges to provide rigidity.
