Abstract
621,293. Sliding doors. EDUCATIONAL SUPPLY ASSOCIATION, Ltd., LEONARD, J. W., and HOWLETT, A. D. Feb. 14, 1947, No. 4291. [Class 20(iii)] [Also in Group XXXII] In a sliding folding door made up of narrow leaves 4, 5 hinged to one another in pairs which are hung on columns 3 mounted at top and bottom in guide tracks; adjacent columns being connected by one or more pairs of hinged links 9, 10, folding downwards in the plane of movement of the columns, the outer end of the links are secured to the lug 13 of a steel sleeve 14 bonded to a rubber or like resilient material bush 15 which is itself bonded to a horizontal spigot 16 bolted to the web of the column. The flanged outer face 15a of the bush contacts with that of the adjacent column when the door is collapsed, thus preventing the leaves contacting; when the door is fully extended inertia loads are taken by distortion of the bush as sleeve 14 is displaced outwardly.
