Abstract
621,830. Washing glasses &c. DAWSON BROS., Ltd., DAWSON, D., and DAWSON, G. Jan. 8, 1947, No. 600. [Class 138(i)] A machine for washing glasses, cups &c. comprises an enclosing casing 8, a compartmented tank unit 2, a motor and pump unit 3, and an endless chain 4 which passes around a pair of horizontally-disposed sprockets 9 so that cradles or carriers 6 carried by the chain move over the tank unit 2 in the vicinity of washing and rinsing jets 7, the fluid being fed to the washing jets by the motor and pump unit 3. The carriers 6 pass through washing and rinsing chambers which are separated beneath the chain 4 by a partition 11a in the tank; a flexible curtain divides the chambers above this partition. Groups of jets 7 are provided in the washing chamber for supplying hat detergent water, and in the rinsing chamber for supplying cold rinsing water, air jets also being provided, if desired, in the rinsing chamber. The detergent fluid collecting in the washing chamber is pumped away and may be re-circulated. Each of the carriers 6 comprises a central spine 16, two angled side members 17, and a platform 18 upon which the articles to be washed are placed in inverted positions. Two groups of jets in the washing chamber may be arranged to concentrate a flow of liquid on to the lips of the articles in the carriers. The casing 8 has an opening 8a for loading and unloading the carriers.
