621,775. Rotary planographic offset machines. ADDRESSOGRAPH-MULTIGRAPH CORPORATION. Nov. 6, 1945, No. 35112/47. Convention date, Jan. 17, 1945. Divided out of 621,739. [Class 100 (ii)] Inking and damping apparatus.- Ink from a container 36 is applied to a master sheet carried by a drum 20, ink-repellent is applied from a trough 46, ink and repellent transferring- devices being actuated automatically as the drum 20 rotates, and a further receptacle 71 is provided containing material for giving a preliminary treatment to the master sheet, e.g. a concentrated damping-fluid, the material being transferred by a manuallymovable absorbent member 73. The ink is transferred from a duct roller 37 to a roller 39 in contact with an inking- roller 40 by a messenger roller 38 actuated as described in Specification 526,324. The roller 37 is rotated stepby-step by a pawl mounted on a carrier oscillated by a rod connected to a rocking arm actuated by a cam on an offset roller 21. The inking-roller 40 is mounted in brackets 41 adapted to be rocked by a hand-operated cam 44 to trip the roller from the drum 20. Inkrepellent is normally supplied by a roller 49 to which fluid is transferred from a duct-roller 47 by a messenger roller actuated as described in Specification 526,324. The moisture for preliminary damping is transferred from a spongerubber block 72, the pad 73 being carried by a rod 74 carried by arms 75 adapted to be rocked by a handle 76. The master sheet may be attached as described in Specification 499,809. Specification 621,739 also is referred to.
