Abstract

621,408. Brassieres. GLICK, J. Jan. 6, 1947, No. 456. Convention date, April 24, 1946. [Class 141] A brassiere adapted to support the breasts without the use of shoulder straps comprises a pair of breast pockets the lower portion of each having a downwardly extending wide band, and a one piece frame for supporting the upper and side portions of the pockets, which has portions extending below the pockets into the band. Each front portion 10, 101 comprises a single piece of material divided into a cup portion 12 or 121 and band portion 13 or 13<SP>1</SP> by a continuous dart 11, a central band 14 joining the parts 13, 13<SP>1</SP>. Channels are provided each extending from a point 28 at the upper edge of the band 14 around the peripheral edge of the cup to a point 27 on the side seam 16 and these house members 33, 331 of a frame 30 having a yieldable cross portion 31 covered by a sleeve 32 and joining the loops 29, 291, the ends of which protrude through openings 26, 26<SP>1</SP>. Plush-like bordering strips 36, 361 are provided to cushion the channels and tie members 37, 38 to draw the upper breast parts together. In a modification, the central band 14 is replaced by an elastic band and the cross piece 31 by a spring loop.
